Raising The Bar
Since opening in 2018, KIPP Bloom Primary has had the strongest 1st first year in KIPP Chicago history. We believe that all students, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status can meet and exceed academic goals given the right resources and taught the appropriate skills.

STEP Reading Assessment
Strategic Teaching and Evaluation of Progress
Last year, 82% of our Kindergarteners ended the school year at or above grade level in reading! Throughout the year, students learn several different literacy skills to help them read independently by the end of the year. With targeted phonics instruction and small group guided reading, KIPPsters are given individualized goals to help meet their needs and develop strong readers.
What is STEP?
Originally developed by a team of researchers at UChicago’s Urban Education Institute, STEP (Strategic Teaching and Evaluation of Progress) is a research-based formative assessment, data management tool, and professional development system designed to build teacher capacity for literacy instruction and provide educators with the data necessary to improve student achievement in literacy across grades K-5.
NWEA MAP Assessment
Measures of Academic Progress
Based on the 2019 MAP results, 80% of our students ended the school year at or above grade level in math. KBP even ranked in the national top quartile based on our average RIT scores in math and reading.

What is MAP?
MAP is an adaptive computer test created by NWEA that kids take two to three times per school year. Adaptive tests adjust to each student’s learning level, providing a unique set of test questions based on their responses to previous questions. As the student responds to questions, the test responds to the student, adjusting up or down in difficulty. The results provide teachers with information to help them deliver appropriate content for each student and determine each student’s academic growth over time.
